I live 10 miles from Windsor, it’s already insanely busy around here/there - people camping out to get prime viewing spots.

We had already planned a party for the 19th months ago, well before the wedding date was announced. Rather than cancelling it I have changed it to a ‘princess’ party - my husband is dressing up as Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, I am the Queen of Hearts....we have a Leia coming as well. TV will be on, Pimms and canapés are being served.

I think her half-siblings are toxic, and that her father was led in a direction he should not have gone. From the sound of it,he has also been talking to TMZ before he told Meghan he wasn’t coming. Poor form.
Making my way through life one bottle of wine (and wheel of cheese) at a time.

I won't be able to watch it as I did Will and Kate's wedding. I am actually in the UK right now and will be flying back to the United States the day of the wedding.

What a terrific party idea! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

I agree with your call on Meghan's father, Aussie_Foodie. Even though he has show-biz experience, he's a rank amateur when it comes to dealing with the press. The poor guy is getting eaten alive in the news & social media, and I feel more sorry for him than angry with him. Worst part is that it also hurts Meghan and casts a shadow over the wedding festivities.

On a happier note, I found this summary of royal wedding traditions, which includes some rather fascinating info on reception cuisine:

I'm teaching all day on Saturday so I won't be able to watch it live, but I guess I'll watch it on catch-up when I get home.

I'm not a massive royalist, but I do like William and Harry; I think Harry especially has turned into an exceptional young man when you consider how off the rails he was going in his teens (unsurprisingly), and Meghan seems lovely, so I'm happy for them. And I'm really curious to see the dress.

The weather is shaping up to be clear and warm, so the happy couple is expected to use this sweet ride to parade through the streets after the ceremony - https://www.royal.uk/find-out-more-about-horses-and-carriages-which-will-be-used-royal-wedding  :)

We're in Malta but will not be tuning in as we'll be out & about with the little people.  I just heard confirmation on euronews that Mr. Markel will not be walking her down the aisle due to his recent heart surgery. She'll walk in with her bridesmaids & then Prince Charles will escort her to Prince Harry from the choir on.  Prince Charles said he's honored to welcome her into the Royal family in this way.

I think this situation is a great example of proper etiquette. Meghan and the British royal family took the high road with their words and actions, in contrast to how some members of the media and Meghan's family of origin behaved. As a result the tone of the news stories shifted to a much more positive vibe over the past two days. I wish the best to all involved, including Meghan's hospitalized father and injured half-sister.

The group pictures released today are gorgeous.  I certainly hope every time Samantha Markle sees them she feels guilty that their shared father isn't in them.  Were it not for her advice to cooperate with the paparazzi, he would have been a part of his youngest daughter's wonderful day.  Instead, he watched on TV.

I had thought her father was not there due to having had a heart attack.

That's what I heard. Hopefully her father is OK. But he is a grown-up who had a choice between the British royal family's advice or Samantha's advice on how to handle the press. He chose wrong.

He announced he would not participate in the wedding after the paparazzi scandal broke, the changed his mind and said he would.  Then he changed his mind again, citing a heart attack.

Ah, ok. That makes me feel a bit sad for Meghan.
