Tonight I tried substituting shredded cabbage for bean sprouts in a pork stir fry. (I am currently avoiding bean sprouts due to gout concerns.) I used onions, garlic, salt and pepper, Kitchen Bouquet, a cubed cooked pork chop, and the cabbage. Success!

Hi Peony -- My DD#2 made something similar and it was oh.so.yummy! It's called Egg Roll in a Bowl. I told politely asked her to put it in her "Keep" list of recipes.

Ground pork
Cabbage
Shredded Carrots
White onion

Soy sauce
Garlic
Sriracha

Powdered ginger
Green onion
Sesame seeds

Brown the pork, add and saute the rest of the ingredients, except the powdered ginger, green onion and sesame seeds. Those were added at serving time (I'm not a fan of ginger so I didn't add it). Serve on a bed of riced cauliflower.

DD#2 didn't give amounts for ingredients because, according to her, "It's all to the taste. You like more carrots? Put them in. Less sriracha? Don't add so much."

So glad your meal was a Success! Just thought I'd throw out a few other ingredients you might like to try adding to your yummy dish. ;)

I’ve never done egg roll in a bowl, but I did learn how to make egg rolls recently. If I have leftovers of something, but not enough for a full mean, I use it as egg roll filling. They have become a fan favorite in my house and fun to make. I’ve used beef and broccoli, shepherds pie, chicken teriyaki, and taco casserole.

Tonight's dinner:  Lemon pepper tofu with brown basmati rice, and a side of roasted Brussels sprouts!

And tonight's dinner:  Bean and soy chorizo tostadas with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and ranch dressing!  Sort of like little individual taco salads.

Is soy chorizo a vegan alternative, Waterlight?

Tonight: stir-fired/steamed purple-sprouting broccoli with ginger, chilli, garlic, and soy sauce.  Yum!

[Had I got my thinking head on, I would have started the stems earlier, and so not had to scrabble around finding a lid to fit so the florets didn't overcook, but it was still delicious.]

It sure is!  I checked on the website for the soy chorizo I used and here are the ingredients:  WATER, SOY FLOUR, SOYBEAN OIL, DISTILLED WHITE VINEGAR, PAPRIKA, SALT, MUSTARD POWDER, SPICES, GARLIC POWDER, CARAMEL COLOR AND POTASSIUM SORBATE (TO MAINTAIN FRESHNESS).

Thanks, Waterlight, I'll keep an eye out for it: I love the idea of a spicy sausage, but pork is one of my intolerances, so chorizo was completely out of the picture...

Or so I thought! ;) ;D

Tuesday night's dinner:  A one-pot meal--groundnut stew with some quick-cooking farro mixed in.

Wednesday night's dinner:  Comfort food night--Sunflower-seed cutlets from Field Roast with mashed potatoes and vegetarian country gravy--and a slice of white chocolate cake for dessert.

Hi all.  I haven't been cooking anything to rave out, but I am eating.  lol

The other night I made chicken divan.  My favorite comfort food.  Today I made egg bites and sauna eggs in my instant pot and we snacked on peel and eat shrimp, cheese and crackers, egg bites, cream cheese bacon wrapped jalapenos and frozen pizza.

Oh and earlier today I made a fruit smoothie and added half and half, it was like a creamsicle.

I've discovered I love tossing slices of jalapeno pepper (plus the seeds) into things. I've also put them on top of homemade pizza and the results were delicious. Last night I made Spanish rice with a few slices of jalapeno and it was very good. The remaining slices that I've stored in the freezer I will add to the meatloaf I'm planning on making next week.

Tonight's meal is kielbasa with melted cheddar cheese, and steamed broccoli on the side.
