Pokemon Go!
« on: May 16, 2018, 06:20:39 pm »
I'll start this one!  Who else plays?

Team Mystic here, but I am perfectly accepting of all Instincts and Valors alike.   :D

Who's caught their Mew already?  How are you doing on the latest Legendary raids?  Tell me all about it!  :)

I never got into it so I’m quite out of the loop, but I’m a little suprised to hear that people still play! I thought it was a fad that burnt out.

Team Mystic! I hadn't played much since February, we were busy and  I couldn't do it 7 days in a row,  and it was a bit frustrating to keep going back to Day 1, so I decided to wait till I had time to continue. I've started up again recently.

Edit: I forgot to say, no, I haven't caught Mew yet.

It definitely burned out with the majority of the intended audience (millennials and younger).  Mostly these days I see people in their 30s and over at the raids or participating in the group events -- and also families with small children.  It's also a great fitness motivator because it tracks the walking that you do (it won't register faster speeds, like car speeds) so you have an idea of how much movement you're getting in.

They're doing a great job of slowly releasing new things to keep people interested/coming back, which is awesome.  :)

I'm still collecting, but I don't participate in raids or battles.   I've managed to get a couple of legendaries through the 'research' tasks, though.  The gyms I see regularly change hands, so there still seem to be players around.

Team mystic, just hit level 37.

Play in raids and such, but I'm the type of person who has to complete.  So I filled my north American dex for gen 1 and 2, pretty close on 3 (just some evolves and such really).

No regionals that I can't get in my home area as I haven't traveled.

I made it to level 24, then ran out of time to walk, and now my phone has battery issues.  I'll probably get back to it at some point.

Team Mystic, level 32 (and it's a slog), and the only Legendaries I have are the ones we get through finishing research. I'm excited for the new Alolan mons.

There are 3 gyms and 6 stops within easy walking distance of the house, so that's definitely made it easier to keep playing. Hubs and I have an unspoken deal with some neighborhood Instincts - they kick us out of the nearest gym in the mornings, and we take it back in the afternoons, so we all have a steady income stream.

Mystic here! My Thursday knitting group has a gym at the shop, so I get at least one battle and gym-occupation a week. XD I probably won't get Mew for a while; I'm stuck on the "catch 10 Ghost-types" because the little rotters never show up!

I got Mew this morning!!  Was stuck on evolving. Magikarp for so long as they just don’t seem to spawn in the areas I go to. Luckily this water pokemon event gave me a huge boost 😁

Mystic player coming up on a year (I couldn't play until last fall when I got a better smartphone). It gets me out walking (there's a loop I can do that takes about a mile and walks me past a gym and a stop) and occupied as a passenger driving through cities.

The best was bringing the game to my vacation in Bermuda - the resort and restaurant near it changed hands frequently, but my family went out to the aquarium/zoo and my mon stayed in there for a week!

Ooh, neat idea, but your trainer code is coming up as invalid for me? Mine is 1573 8652 3166

what do you do w/ trainer codes? Can we match our Pokemon against one another?

I find that I only collect them; and then I don't know what to do with them. I try to go to a gym, but either there's no one there, or the Pokemon is WAY higher-level than mine, and that's not fun at all.

You can send each other gifts, and trade Pokemon if you’re nearby. With the gyms, if you fight the Pokemon holding it when they’re unhappy (i.e. they’ve been there a while and their little heart symbols are showing empty) then they’re weakened and can be beaten easily. Then you put one of your own Pokemon in the gym, and when someone else beats it it comes back to you and brings coins.
