I made my grandson a third, and for now, last blanket. My daughter said that she told him that Grandma must love him a lot. to make so many blankets. He replied, "I know." :)

I then started sewing for my daughter's college roommate, who is expecting a baby girl any day now. I made 5 pacifier bibs, which have a part that holds the pacifier, so you don't lose it as easily. I used a Kwik Sew pattern and it worked so well. Then I made 12 infant bibs and 12 bigger bibs that will work when she is a toddler. Made a dozen burp cloths and one blanket.

Now I'm working on making more masks, for friends and family, for the holidays. Next, I will make more masks for female Veterans at a VA counseling center. I gave them some masks and they really liked them and wanted to know if I'd make more and they would buy the materials. I agreed to make the masks, but I'd take care of the materials.

Once those are done, I need to make Christmas gifts. This year's " gift of the year" is going to be two gifts: 1. tortilla warmers and 2. security holders for credit cards. They will be made with special fabric to keep people from skimming the cards.

News flash: I learned how to make bias tape and am so proud of myself! And now I can make the tortillas warmers, because with 100% cotton fabric, it will make bias tape that can safely go into the microwave!

I showed my mother the bibs I had made with my homemade bias tape, and asked what she thought of how I had made the bibs. She complimented me and then I told her that I had made the bias tape. She was impressed!

I made more bibs. I've cut out more masks, as the Veteran's Center would like to have more. (My DH is so proud of me and the work I do. It is kind of sweet to hear him brag on me.) (He even bragged to my mother!) ;)

I'm done making bibs until there is a new baby on the way. I'll finish up the masks, and then take a break from masks. I'm going to spend this weekend cutting out PJ pants and tortilla warmers. I'll also make bias tape for the tortilla warmers. Then, Monday, I will sew like a bat out of h---.

I have to figure out the best way to make the credit card holders, so that is on the back burner for now.

I have been cutting out quilt pieces for the quilt I'm going to make for Dh. I can only work on it when he isn't home. Which means, only for about 1/2 an hour at a time.

Hope everyone is doing well.

I spent the day harvesting in the garden with my MIL.  We pulled and picked the beans and peppers, both hot and sweet.  The leeks got pulled and left on the edge of the garden.  They will be well washed with the massive storms we got tonight.  The celery is picked and 2/3 of it is processed for the freezer, with the last 1/3 in the sink to soak overnight.  I'll finish it up in the morning.  We got everything pulled in two beds, everything but the rosemary out of the herb bed.  One bed isn't a rush because I won't be planting garlic in it.  The fourth garden bed, I need to dig out more rosemary and maybe a habanero pepper that hasn't ripened yet.  The other side has carrots, beets, rutabaga and parsnip in it but I can till the one half and plant the garlic in it.

Still need to put straw on the herb bed and on the strawberry rhubarb bed for winter protection.  And get all the potted plants I'm overwintering outside put somewhere and protected.  I hope it is a looonnnngggg fall!

We finished "tidying" the left hand side of the back garden [getting rid of willow saplings that should never have got out of the ground, and had grown like cress], and are now in the thick of planting acers, a few shrubs, and the perennials I spend days dividing up back when we were first locked down and the weather was too good not to garden.

I know I had a couple of days where I ended up with over 90 plants, and one with over 70 [plus another couple of minor efforts], so we are going to be busy for the forseeable future.  We waited till the weather turned cooler/wetter; Kent [south of England] has had a long hot dry summer, so we waited to plant things until the risk of dying almost immediately had passed.

We also did some more work for my mum: relocating peonies, so that she could plant hostas, and trimming back "wrong" branches to various trees.

I'm itching to get back to some knitting/making some masks, but I can't settle whilst the weather permits us to plant things!

Finished this scarf, it's around 10 feet long I think. This is the first time I've gone back over and added patterns on the top with a kirschner stitch. It took forever and used up all the yarn, but I'm please with how it came out.

Are we talking knitting, here?  I'm always looking for new ideas.  I've heard of the kitchener stitch, but only used it for joining pieces together and I've used a duplicate stitch for adding designs (mostly letters/names).  Do you have any links or photos?

Oops.  I just noticed the photo.  It looks awesome.  But I can't enlarge it enough to see the stitch.

Yes, knitting. Here's the youtube video, I guess it is a duplicate stitch so now I know what to call it!

I blocked the scarf first so the embroidery part would sit on top and give it a more solid appearance. I also knitted the scarf at an angle because I wanted clear "sides" rather than a tube, the increase/decrease gave it an edge so it would lie flat. It was some fun math making a matching angle grid in MS paint to lay over the letters and create the pattern.

Slightly bigger photo?

I bet that really was quite a challenge getting the lettering right on an angle.  I love the angle.  It makes it just a little different.  As far as the edges go, if you do a slip stitch, it creates a nice smooth edge.  Maybe you've tried that, but if you haven't, you might want to.

I have been making Spiderman and alien masks for dress up for my DGS, who is 3 1/2. How that came to be my project is: We were visiting at DD's home and I saw that he had a paper Spiderman mask. I thought, "oh, that won't last long." So, wanting to be a good grandma, I made a tracing of the mask and came home and went to work.

So, I bought used t-shirt at a thrift store and craft interfacing at Joann's. When I cut out the first Spiderman mask, I said to my husband, it looks like an alien, so I got green t-shirts and made some of those, too.

They came over and DGS and I put them on. DSonIL said, "Oh, my gosh! Look there is Spiderman and an alien! Where is DS and Grandma?! I want them to see this!"
DGS and I turned around, took off our masks, and turned back around, and asked, "What is going on?"
They told us about seeing an alien and Spiderman and DGS giggled and said that we had a secret. We did this repeatedly.

So, since they were a great success, I have been making more, to put aside for future use. (DGS's daycare does an auction every year, to buy equipment and to not have to raise their rates. So, I will probably donate a set for that.)

Currently working on my son-in-law's afghan.  I'm using stitches out of my sampler afghan book but I'm making larger squares - twice the number of stitches so 4 times the size.  So instead of 63 squares - 7X9 - I'm making 20 - 4X5.  There will be less border due to the fewer number of squares so it should only be slightly larger than the 63 square one.  He owns a landscaping company and loves John Deere so the squares will be JD green and yellow and the border will be High Vis orange.  I may have to make a couple of the squares orange as well, unless I have similar a similar green and yellow in my stash.  The original plan was to make the regular 63 squares - 1/3 each colour - so I'm a wee bit short on the green and yellow.  His birthday is in July; I should be able to get it done by then.

I have a list of yarn projects to plug away on - a sweater for my nephew, a messy bun hat for my other nephew's girlfriend, an afghan with poppies for the Legion to raffle off, since they aren't making any money right now with everything closed up.  Hoping they'll be able to open up come patio season, at least for sitting outside.  I have a knitted nativity scene pattern that I've made everything but the wise men and the donkey for myself.  And I want to make a second one for the church to raffle or auction off, since they're closed these days, too, and can't run their normal fundraisers.

If I get all that done, I'm going to work on using up my stash of odds and ends, making lap blankets for the Senior's Wish organization, who work to make sure seniors without family get something for Christmas and little things for other holidays.  I found this cool pattern that uses one colour for a frame and a second colour in behind.  I made one square of it for my MIL's afghan and used varying shades of blue to make almost an ombre effect behind the frame.  It's called 'Bricks'.  So it will be a great way to use up small balls of various colours.  For example, use white for the frame and varying shades of pink in behind; brown for the frame and varying shades of green in behind; beige for the frame and purple in behind.

Plus, there is my travelling project, when I'm waiting in the car for DH at an appointment - comfort hearts.  Or cotton dishcloths.

Eventually, I'll finally get to all my eyelash yarn and I can start making some chemo caps out of that.

Right now, I have 3 dressers, 3 chests and 3 totes full of yarn.  My goal is to get down to one dresser.  Why yes, I do need a 12 step program!

So I've found a random new hobby. Polishing and painting dice, because why not? I tried doing it for money but it was too stressful.

Regarding the bolded:  A couple of months ago, I saw the cutest cap on a woman I only know through a community board we're both members of.  It was a chemo cap that she had picked up when she was going through it and it had a band of eyelash yarn in just the right spot to make it look like a halo.  It was the long strands.  I don't know what else it might be called.

It was adorable!

I guess all I needed was a reason.  I've been in a real slump lately with crafting of any sort.  I just didn't have the ambition to do anything.

I have learned that by the end of August, there will be 3 new members of the family who will need "the stocking".  These are branches of the family that have requested them before (for new spouses and children) so I know they are using them.  Yay!!  One has already been requested and the other two will be a surprise....but they will be appreciated if the reaction to the last one is anything to go by.
