« on: November 16, 2019, 02:54:53 am »Sort of off topic but last night I was watching a UK reality program (Come dine with me) that has a narrator commenting over the participants actions. While the participant was making something she made a rather silly (stupid) remark and the narrator commented "well bless". While I'm sure it doesn't originate from our "bless your heart" it definitely had the same connotation of "did you really just say or do that?"
SE UK here. “Ah, bless” is a phrase I’ve heard occasionally but generally affectionally, eg as a response to a story about a child’s harmless mishap. However, language does vary across the Uk, so a particular phrase may be more common or have slightly different usage in different parts of the country.
