Life in General / Re: Bless your heart

Sort of off topic but last night I was watching a UK reality program (Come dine with me) that has a narrator commenting over the participants actions. While the participant was making something she made a rather silly (stupid) remark and the narrator commented "well bless". While I'm sure it doesn't originate from our "bless your heart" it definitely had the same connotation of "did you really just say or do that?"

SE UK here.  “Ah, bless” is a phrase I’ve heard occasionally but generally affectionally, eg as a response to a story about a child’s harmless mishap.   However, language does vary across the Uk, so a particular phrase may be more common or have slightly different usage in different parts of the country.

I don't often use them.  At the supermarket I use most, the queue for self service is often so long that it is quicker to use a manned checkout!  What I do use, where available, is a self scanner.  Only a few shops have them (UK) but luckily one local chain does.  Its a handheld scanner so the items are scanned as they are taken off the shelf, and packed straight into a shopping bag.  At the end, I just have to scan the final total into a special till and pay.

I agree an ad free site has a lot of attractions but I'm not sure how practical or feasible it would be for those, like me, living outside US to send small payments internationally.
