I know from experience how difficult it can be to prevent people from visiting. In our state, a person from the state came and did an interview with my father. Since I was there when the person came to do the interview, he also asked me questions. Then I left them alone while he interviewed my father. When he was done, he came to let me know that they were done and that my father's girlfriend (rather, his leach) could no longer visit.

So, she sent her son. He was blocked from future visits has an extension of her, based on that he tried to have things signed over to her. 

I haven't been on here for way too long! Quarantine has meant the DH has been using the computer more and, since a friend gave me a tablet, I have been on the tablet. I don't actually remember my log-in info,  so can not access from the tablet.

Still, I am here now and am wondering if anyone is gearing up for Christmas yet. As a sewer, I have to start early or it doesn't get done. I am planning a huge cut out of lounging pants (AKA PJ bottoms) this week. I thought I would make myself accountable by putting it on here.

I also plan to start cutting out this year's ornaments, just as soon as I decide between the four choices.

So, what are you doing?

I made my grandson a third, and for now, last blanket. My daughter said that she told him that Grandma must love him a lot. to make so many blankets. He replied, "I know."

I then started sewing for my daughter's college roommate, who is expecting a baby girl any day now. I made 5 pacifier bibs, which have a part that holds the pacifier, so you don't lose it as easily. I used a Kwik Sew pattern and it worked so well. Then I made 12 infant bibs and 12 bigger bibs that will work when she is a toddler. Made a dozen burp cloths and one blanket.

Now I'm working on making more masks, for friends and family, for the holidays. Next, I will make more masks for female Veterans at a VA counseling center. I gave them some masks and they really liked them and wanted to know if I'd make more and they would buy the materials. I agreed to make the masks, but I'd take care of the materials.

Once those are done, I need to make Christmas gifts. This year's " gift of the year" is going to be two gifts: 1. tortilla warmers and 2. security holders for credit cards. They will be made with special fabric to keep people from skimming the cards.

News flash: I learned how to make bias tape and am so proud of myself! And now I can make the tortillas warmers, because with 100% cotton fabric, it will make bias tape that can safely go into the microwave!

I showed my mother the bibs I had made with my homemade bias tape, and asked what she thought of how I had made the bibs. She complimented me and then I told her that I had made the bias tape. She was impressed!

I have made two blankets for my grandson. I've given him the first one and he loved it. Today we get to watch him while his parents go have a "date" lunch. So, he will get the second one today. (I jokingly told DH that "If you sew it, they will come!")

The cake was a huge success and our daughter posted a picture of it on her Facebook page, with the comment that it might have been the best one yet! I ended up putting a saw in Bob the Builder's hand, which was an inside joke, as DD had sent her brother (our DS) a picture of DGS holding a play saw and he sent back one of himself at work, holding a real saw. All the grown ups had a good laugh when they saw the saw. (See what I did there?)

The party was outside and we sat apart from each other and wore masks when we weren't eating. Still it has been a while since we all got to be together and it was lovely seeing our children and their children.

I am doing a lot of serging and am posting it in the Christmas 2020 thread; because, yes, I am making my Christmas gifts now.

More than 2 months later, I finally put up the serger and serged the first two pair of pants. I'm so happy! 2 ready for the sewing machine parts: hems and waistbands.

I've been using the free pattern on sweetredpoppy.com and have found that the adult size works for many adults, but not my DDIL. She is tiny and I had to make another one for her using the teen size pattern. I've found that I like the finished look better if I trim the lining a little smaller than the outer fabric. Then the lining doesn't peek out. Tonight and tomorrow I'll be working on masks for DDIL's office, as our county is starting to open back up and she will have to go into the office next week, I think.  Everyone is supposed to wear masks, but I want her to have some to give to people to keep her safe.
