Oh Lort, he was a character. This was my senior year in HS and I had several people waiting for the next Johnny tale. :) Have had other pets do funny things, but never to this scale.

My DD and her cat moved back home during quarantine. He developed a love of stealing her makeup sponge from her makeup bag and bringing them to you to throw and he retrieves and brings it back. DD has learned to keep her sponge in a plastic bag so she is not constantly replacing them. He has his own makeup sponge hat will toss up the stairs for him to retrieve and bring back.

I had my my makeup bag open yesterday. My bag looks nothing like DD's, is not in the same room and my makeup sponge is completely different with a handle attached. The cat still found it and ran off with it but I was able to grab it quickly and replace it in the bag.

DD later found the cat had gone back to my room, knocked my bag off the counter and was trying to dig open the bag so he could get the sponge back out. So she put the bag in a cabinet. This morning the cat was trying to figure out how to get the cabinet door open.

Talk about being fixated.

Time to buy him one of his own, so he'll leave yours alone.

So, I'm trying a new litter in one of our many litter boxes. I only swapped out one in case the herd doesn't like it. My rotten baby boy (he's about 1.5 years old) dug in it for a good hour today. He thought it was GREAT FUN. He didn't seem to realize it was kitty litter until our oldest lady went and did her business in it. Then it clicked for him and he jumped right in and did his business. He has now claimed said litter box and has been guarding it all day. He's letting the others use it, he's just watching. Crazy effing cat.   ::) :D

My senior golden retriever has extremely dry skin. One remedy I have been trying is coconut oil. So I lathered him up today.  Unfortunately my crazy food motivated laberdoodle cannot stop licking him now. It's unfortunate because my old man cannot stand his younger brother on a good day and is not amused.

Poor guy probably feels like he's being punished!  "Mom!  What did I do to deserve this?"

We've always had one dog afraid of thunder.  He's been sleeping in our bed for a while now because he came up lame one day and we didn't think he could get into the tub they sleep in when we pen them in a bathroom overnight.  So it wasn't a problem because if he was with us, he didn't get scared.

Now?  Another dog is scared of thunder.  And when he whimpers and howls, the other two join in.  So when there is an overnight thunderstorm, we end up with 4 dogs in bed with us.  The original dog takes up position between us, even though we don't let him sleep there when it is just him.  And defends his position agains all others.  One comes up above him and begs for belly rubs but once we comply, she moves to our feet and settles in.  One guy comes up to challenge the original dog then retreats, licks the blanket for quite a while and finally settles in.  The last dog?  Oh, the last dog.  He likes to come up to the head of the bed and try to sleep on your pillow above your head.  And if he'd settle down, it wouldn't be so bad.  But he wags his tail vigorously, licks our faces, paws our hair and just generally makes a nuisance of himself.

Why do we have dogs, again?

Some days.  Some days, not so much.  I often say, 'It's a good job you're cute or you'd have been shishkadog a long time ago.'

My first dog was a German Shepherd/Lab mix who was also terrfied of thunder. She would go hide in the bathtub and pull the curtain shut behind her if inside during a thunderstomr. If she was outside, the dog would climb our wooden ladder into our treehouse (not actually in a tree, it was on stilts).

Naturally no point explaining the treehouse was closer to the evil thunder!

Our Maine Coon cat, Badger, was most annoyed once when I had to have emergency surgery and was in hospital for a week. The second day I was home, the visiting nurse came by for our initial follow up. Badge came into the room, put both his front paws up on the nurse's knee where she was sat on the couch, and yowled at her for a good 2 minutes in a very irate tone. She let him finish and said, "Don't worry, I am not here to kidnap Mama again!" They were fast friends after that.

Our little cocker spaniel was never afraid of thunder until after she was struck by a car while chasing it (we could never break her of that bad habit). She would shake and shiver and try to hide. We guessed it must have been because thunder sounded like the car's engine. Poor thing.

Our cat Izzy is a tripod, and seems to have some arthritis in the stump.  Whenever storms move in, he meows incessantly.  We took him to the vet to rule out anything serious, and he's in great shape, so it's just that he aches.

We bought him a mat that uses his body weight to warm up, and he loves it!  His meowing has also gone down by at least 50%.

The quirk?  If he wants to sit in another room and doesn't have his mat, he meows as if to say "Go get my mat, please"  ::).  Then when he's done sitting in that room, he meows to say "OK, take the mat back to the bed for me".

DH is not moved by this patheticness, but he has a softer target in me  ::).  I feel like Pharaoh's servant.

When BeagleDaddy and I lived in WV we had a Doberman/Chow mix named Shadow.  She loved going for rides in the car.

One morning, as I was going to get the mail, she got out around me and started heading down the street.  New neighbors were getting in their car and the passenger door was open.

Shadow jumped in the front seat with the woman.  Imagine having a 30 pound Doberman/Chow mix sitting on your lap in the front seat of your car.  I managed to remove said dog from the car while apologizing profusely.

Oh, I had a wonderful Rottweiler, Daisy. Such a beautiful and friendly dog. She was tame enough that I didn't have to worry about taking her out without a leash to the front yard with us (me and young DDs) while we washed the car or did some yard work or some such thing. She would always stay with us.

One time I heard a screech. I looked up in time to see a couple that were out for a walk with their little to dog picking up their dog and running in panic while Daisy was loping along the sidewalk.

She just wanted to meet the little doggie! I yelled "Daisy! Come!" and sure enough Daisy came back to our yard.

I shouted out to the couple who had their little dog wrapped in their arms "Sorry! Daisy really is a good dog, just wanted to meet your puppy." Couple didn't want anything to do with that.

And, yes, I kept Daisy leashed in the front yard after that happened.
