Bad Manners and Brimstone

I have to admit that I'd be pretty upset, too, and would be putting out feelers just to see what else is out there.  It's nice to know what your options are. Sometimes that's left me with a new appreciation for my current position, sometimes not.  Although I seem to change jobs every 5-6 years, I can understand the value of staying in the same place long term.  But if you're not feeling valued, it might be time to start looking.  These days, very few people stay in one place for their whole career and unfortunately, it seems that changing companies is the only way to get a decent raise and/or advance.  Those who stay in place get smaller raises, in my experience.  I think it's foolish for companies to not work harder to reward their loyal employees, but that seems to be the way of the world these days.
